Appointed 07/03/2024 Ends 06/01/2028 Biography: Jan Oen A community activist, Jan Oen promotes quality of life issues in the San Luis Valley. A board member of the Alamosa Public Library Board, she’s an avid reader. Her love of books led her to volunteer at the Narrow Gauge Book Co-op on a weekly basis. A Minnesota-born farm girl, she moved to Denver with a retailing job right out of college from the University of Minnesota, Crookston campus.  A change of careers led her to banking where she spent nearly 20 years with Colorado State Bank in Trust Investments.  During that time she received a degree in business administration from Regis University. In 2003 she and her husband, Don Thompson, moved from Denver to the San Luis Valley where they both enjoy the outdoors.  She has come full circle coming back to her farm roots by actively gardening year around with the Alamosa Community Greenhouse. She’s a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
